Police in Armenia report that former National Assembly MP Karo Karapetyan, a member of the Prosperous Armenia Party (BHK) was gunned down late last night at an eatery in Yerevan’s Nork Marash district.

Karapetyan died while being rushed to hospital.

Police report that another individual, Sargis Avagyan, was found at the crime scene with a gunshot wound. Avagyan underwent surgery and is recuperating at a local hospital.

No motive for the shooting has been forthcoming.

Update: Police today report they have identified the shooter and are seraching for him.
