Parliament Prez Candidate Says Reporters Should be Given Unrestricted Access
Right now at the National Assembly, 4 MP’s have signed up to pose questions to Samvel Nikoyan, a candidate for president of the legislature.
Prior to taking their questions, Nikoyan stated that if elected one of his first moves would be to review that matter of how when and for how long authorized representatives of the press would be allowed on parliament grounds.
Nikoyan stated that given the important work carried out by the press in terms of the public interest, no such limitations should be place on their visit to the parliament.
Under current law, reporters are only allowed into the parliament on general session days and when the parliament’s various committees meet.
