
Parliament Expected to Elect New President Tomorrow
All expectations point to an election tomorrow evening in parliament to chose the next president and vice-president of Armenia’s legislature.
The ruling Republican Party has nominated Samvel Nikoyan for the head post and Edvard Sharmazanov as his deputy.
At today’s session, Nikoyan, who currently serves as the National Assembly VP called for nominations for the post of president before any voting took place.
Heritage Party leader Raffi Hovannisyan nominated MP Larisa Alaverdyan.
Republican Party MP Galust Sahakyan formally nominated Samvel Nikoyan.
