Company Wants Tax Breaks for Imported Turkish Water Pipes
Hydro Corporation Ltd. has filed a petition with the government of Armenia to receive tax breaks on 850 million AMD (US$1.8) worth of glass-fiber water pipes from Turkey.
The company wants the government to provide it a three-year grace period for paying VAT.
The pipes are to be used to refurbish a small hydro-plant on the River Argitch, the largest river flowing in to Lake Sevan.
The hydro plant was constructed despite fierce opposition by local Verin Getashen residents and environmentalists.
