Yerevan Municipality Official Arrested for Bribery

Karen Mikayelyan, Chief Specialist at the Yerevan Municipality's Department of Trade and Services, was taken into custody by police on March 27 for allegedly taking a $2,500 bribe from a city resident.

Mikayelyan is said to have accepted the bribe in return for "legalizing" unauthorized construction. Police say they found the cash stashed away in two sacks.
