Azerbaijan Gunfire Injures Two Foreign Workers at Metallurgical Plant in Armenia
Two foreign workers were injured today when Azerbaijani troops opened fire on a metallurgical plant under construction in the village of Yeraskh in Armenia’s Ararat Province, this according to the Armenian Defense Ministry.
The ministry has refuted Azerbaijani claims that Armenian forces fired first, targeting Azerbaijani military positions in the area.
The plant, an Armenian-American joint venture, is estimated to cost US$70 million.
Yeraskh is adjacent to Azerbaijan's Nakhijevan enclave.
The two workers, in stable condition, have been identified as Indian nationals.
