A member of Armenia’s National Assembly was arrested today after he allegedly hit another MP in the head during a closed session in the legislative chamber.

Opposition Hayastan (Armenia) Alliance faction MP Mher Sahakyan is reported to have hit MP Vladimir Vardanyan, a member of the ruling Civil Contract faction.

The country’s Investigative Committee (IC) reports that Sahakyan first shouted at Vardanyan and then hit him with an object.

The IC doesn’t specify what was being discussed at the time.
