POLITICO reports that U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi will travel to Armenia this weekend in a show of support for the country against the backdrop of intense fighting earlier this week along the Armenia-Azerbaijan border.

Pelosi will be accompanied by Rep. Jackie Speier (D-Calif.) after a stop in Berlin for the G-7 Speakers’ Summit.

Pelosi is scheduled to meet with Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and other government officials.

Armenian National Assembly Speaker Alen Simonyan told reporters today in Yerevan that the U.S. played a major role in yesterday ceasefire agreement.
