Armenian Opposition MPs Launch No-Confidence Initiative
Opposition MPs in Armenia say they will propose a vote of no confidence seeking the resignation of PM Nikol Pashinyan.
MPs of the With Honor and Hayastan parliamentary factions joined demonstrators outside the National Assembly on September 14 who are demanding that Pashinyan resign.
The opposition MPs then announced they would enter the parliament to express their opposition to Pashinyan and called on pro-government Civil Contract MPs to join them.
Hayastan faction MP Aram Vardevanyan said the demonstrators will remain outside the parliament until Civil Contract MPs sign on to the no-confidence initiative.
People gathered outside the National Assembly after Pashinyan announced that he will sign any document ensuring “lasting peace and security” for Armenia.
Pashinyan later announced that no such document now exists.
