Armenian Security Service Files Motion to Detain Karabakh 2020 Ceasefire ARF Protester
Armenia’s National Security Service (NSS) has filed a motion to detain ARF member Gerasim Vardanyan who has been charged with obstructing the work of a journalist covering the protests in Yerevan on November 10, 2020 following the publication of the ceasefire agreement that ended the Karabakh war.
The NSS claims that Vardanyan never paid the 60 million AMD bail issued him at the time.
"We did not pay for a simple reason, we could not," says Vardanyan's lawyer Benik Galstyan.
Vardanyan, a member of the ARF Nikol Aghbalyan Student Union, was among those who tried to break into the offices of Radio Liberty and seize the news outlet’s servers.
This is the fourth motion to detain Vardanyan.
