Armenia Returned Remains of 1990s Artsakh War Missing to Azerbaijan, Says Pashinyan

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan today, at a parliamentary Q&A session, said that Armenia has returned the remains of 108 persons registered as missing during the 1990s Artsakh war to Azerbaijan in 2021.

Pashinyan said that Azerbaijan claims that some 4,000 of its citizens went missing during that war.

"I want to emphasize that the Armenian side also has missing persons. According to official figures we have 777 missing persons. An attempt is underway claiming the Armenian side has not taken any concrete steps in on issue. I would like to inform you that during the last year the bodies of 108 people missing from the first war have been handed over to the Azerbaijani side. In the coming days we are going to transfer two more bodies," Pashinyan said.

He said that humanitarian issues should not serve as bargaining chips in any negotiation process.

Pashinyan said and agreement had been reached to locate the bodies of Armenians who went missing in the early 1990s and the 217 persons who remain missing in the 2020 war.

Pashinoglu is trying very hard to accelerate the normalization process with Turkey and Azerbaijan! Normalization of the relations based on preconditions dictated by sultan Erdogan and his puppet Aliyev (i.e. removal of the Armenian Genocide issue from political tribunes, recognition of Artsakh as part of Azerbaijan, and opening of the so-called "Zangezur corridor") is an insult by Pashinoglu (and his supporters) to the sacred memory of 1.5 million victims of the Armenian Genocide! The Armenians of Iran have a proverb that says: "a Turk by birth is preferred to a converted Turk" (Թուրքը քանց թե թուրքացածը). By having Pashinoglu as a "FRIEND", the Armenian people don't need an enemy!
