European Union Ready to Provide Humanitarian Aid to Civilians on Both Sides of Border
The European Union (EU) is ready to provide emergency humanitarian assistance to the parties affected by the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
EU Commissioner for Crisis Management and Humanitarian Response Janez Lenarčič reported this on his Twitter page.
"The EU declares that emergency humanitarian aid will be provided to the entire civilian population on both sides of the Line of Contact,” Lenarčič wrote.
Earlier, the heads of government of the EU member states called on Turkey to stop interfering in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and to play a constructive role in the de-escalation process.
The European Council also called on the parties to cease hostilities immediately and to reaffirm their commitment to a ceasefire and a peaceful settlement of the conflict.
