Armenian Agricultural Minister Calls for Greater Produce Exports to Russia
At a meeting today with representatives of some twenty large exporters of locally grown fresh fruit and vegetables, Armenian Minister of Agriculture Sergo Karapetyan urges them to increase exports to Russia given Moscow’s recently imposed ban on certain produce from Turkey.
“The list of agricultural produce imports that Russia has banned from Turkey was officially published today,” Karapetyan told those attending the meeting. “This creates possibilities for local exporters to increase agricultural produce, including fruits and vegetables, to the Russian market.”
The minister said that Armenia had sufficient supplies of grapes, apples, cabbage, cauliflower, beets, potatoes and carrots, as well as hot-house produce that could be exported to Russia.
