Yuri Vardanyan, a legendary boxer who serves as an advisor to President Sargsyan, is now in the resuscitation unit at Erebuni Medical Center. Vardanyan is now in a coma but doctors say his condition is stable.

A few days ago Vardanyan had travelled to Moscow and suffered a break of the iron brace located in his thigh. He underwent surgery upon returning to Yerevan but the operation was called off midway due to a lack of oxygen flowing to the brain.

Last October, Vardanyan was involved in a traffic accident on the Yerevan-Gyumri highway. His car hit a tractor that had been parked on the road that evening without its warning lights on.
