Vardan Setrakyan's Lawyer - Two Month Pre-Trial Detention is Unconstitutional
A lawyer representing Vardan Setrakyan, the presidential candidate who was recently arrested on charges of ordering the shooting of Paryur Hayrikian, stated today that a court’s decision to hold his client for two months pre-trial detention is unconstitutional.
Aleksander Sirounyan argued that since the RA Constitutional Court has yet to issue its decision regarding Raffi Hovannisian’s petition to annul the February 18 presidential election results, Setrakyan must still be considered a candidate and thus not subject to arrest.
