Hayrikian Files "Insurmountable Obstacles"Petition with Constitutional Court
On February 9, presidential candidate Paryur Hyrikian and his lawyers visited Armenia’s Constitutional Court and filed a petition arguing that he had met with problems that were insurmountable.
If the highest court in the land sustains the claims, Hayrikian could request that the February 18 presidential election be postponed by two weeks.
Article 52 of the RA Constitution states: "In the event that one of the presidential candidates faces insurmountable obstacles, the presidential elections shall be postponed by two weeks."
The court has 24 hours from the receipt of the petition to issue its decision.
