How to Become a Millionaire Judge? Ask Artak Zakharyan
Even though Judge Artak Zakharyan only receives an annual salary of 3.939 million AMD, he reported a whopping 422 million AMD in the bank as of January 1, 2011.
Judge Zakharyan, who serves on the bench of the Malatya-Sebastia District Court, also reported savings of US $200,000 and 200,000 Euros.
Of interest is that Zakharyan worked as a specialist and senior supervisor at Armenia’s State Customs Committee from 1998 to 2001.
In 2001, he was appointed an investigator at the Malatya-Sebastia Prosecutor’s Office. In 2005, he was appointed an Assistant to the Malatya-Sebastia Prosecutor and two years later he became a prosecutor himself.
Where he got so much money is anyone’s guess. Perhaps it was an “inheritance” from his father Yervant Zakharyan, a former Yerevan mayor and now President of the State Real Estate Cadastre.
