Displaced Artsakh Residents Vow to Continue Protests in Armenia
The Artsakh People's Rights Protection Council issued the following statement today, announcing that it will continue to organize rallies in Armenia because the administration of PM Nikol Pashinyan has failed to adequately respond to its demands for more concrete steps by the government to facilitate the return of displaced Armenians to Artsakh and for an expansion of state aid for those now living in Armenia.
Dear compatriots, the Artsakh People's Rights Protection Council, based on the one-week deadline announced during the large March 29 rally and the developments that have occurred during this period, announces:
1. The RA government has not responded adequately to the demands of the rally, having had a limited discussion with our representatives. In addition, the government has sent us a written response, making certain comments on 5 points of the demand, which do not correspond to our understanding. Their only practical proposal was the formation of expert groups to develop certain solutions.
2. Considering the trust given by the public and the expectations formed towards the Artsakh People's Rights Protection Council, we announce the next actions of the struggle, within the framework of which we will take the following steps:
2.1. We are starting a broad consolidation process, calling on all concerned public and political forces and figures from Artsakh, Armenia, and the Diaspora to unite around the agenda we have presented and support this nationwide struggle. All those who wish can approach the headquarters tent located in Freedom Square, where we will jointly discuss our further actions.
2.2. As a result of the broad public discussions and consolidation taking place until April 15, we will announce the date and place of our next large rally, which will be followed by specific mass actions.
2.3. During this time, we will organize local protests and awareness gatherings at various places and structures, presenting our demands and other provisions related to them.
3. We urge all our compatriots not to be discouraged and to be ready for a consistent and decisive struggle for the rights and fair demands of all of us. We consider the presented demands to be issues on the agenda of the entire Armenian people and expect everyone's support, regardless of their place of residence and origin.
