Design Competition to Complete Yerevan’s Cascade Complex

Yerevan residents have until September 29 to select one of two design proposals to fix the long-standing eyesore atop the city’s Cascade Complex.

Visitors that climb the steps of the Cascade Complex, a major Yerevan tourist destination started in the 1970s, are greeted by a sprawling abandoned construction site that separates the steps from a memorial to the 50th Anniversary of October Revolution.

The Yerevan Municipality launched an online poll earlier this month allowing residents to vote on which design is best.

The two design proposals seek to connect the Cascade to the Memorial.

One design is by New York architect David Hotson, who worked on the project a couple decades ago but has modified it recently, while the second design is by France's Wilmotte & Associés.

Both are beautiful. I am a huge fan of David Hotson's work and hope is awarded the project.
