Harvesting Watermelon in Armenia
Brothers Arman and Karen have been growing watermelons on a fifteen-hectare field near the village of Griboyedov in Armenia’s Armavir Province for twenty years.
Karen tells Hetq they started with a small plot that increased in size gradually, over the years.
Workers from nearby villages join them in harvesting the fruit that they sell to traders that descend on the field every summer.
The juicy red fruit is a staple on many summer lunch tables in Armenia.
