Azerbaijani Troops Detain Armenian University Student at Lachin Corridor Checkpoint
The Artsakh government’s press service reports that Azerbaijani troops today detained a university student returning to Armenia from Artsakh via the Lachin Corridor.
The press service describes the incident as an “abduction”, which violates international humanitarian law.
In a statement, the press service identifies the student as Alen Sargsyan and says the student was detained at the illegal Azerbaijani checkpoint along the roadway and that he was being escorted by Russian peacekeepers.
Artsakh State Minister Gurgen Nersisyan, on July 29, reported that Azerbaijani troops detained Vagif Khachatryan, a 68-year-old Artsakh citizen who was being transferred to Armenia via the Lachin Corridor for medical treatment.
The press service says it will provide further details later.
