Armenia Allocates $2.8M to Design New Yerevan Metro Station
The Armenian government today approved the allocation of 1.1 billion AMD (US$2.8M) to draft design plans for design a new metro station in Yerevan.
The new station will, once completed, extend Yerevan’s one-line ten station system to the capital’s Ajapnyak district northwest of the city center.
Last year, the government estimated the design cost at 750 million drams (US$1.6M) . Then Yerevan Mayor Hayuk Marutyan announced that the Russian company Metrogibotrans had won the tender to design the station.
In 2021, the company estimated the entire project to cost $500 million.
At a government cabinet session today, Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructures Gnel Sanosyan said construction of the news station would take four years to complete.
