Anti-Government Activist Avetik Chalabyan Back in Jail
A Yerevan court today decided to arrest Avetik Chalabyan, a member of the anti-government Unification initiative, on charges that he attempted to bribe the chairman of Yerevan’s Agrarian University’s Student Council to rally students to attend anti-Pashinyan rallies earlier this year in the Armenian capital.
Chalabyan, arrested on May 14, had been released from custody because his detention term had expired and was not extended.
Chalabyan is a member of the Board of Trustees of Repat Armenia, a non-profit organization founded in 2012 that offers services to those seeking to relocate to Armenia.
