Armenian Parliament Speaker Alen Simonyan, in Strasbourg on a working visit, today met with the Council of Europe Secretary General Marija Pejčinović Burić and discussed implementation of the 2019-2022 Armenia-CoE Action Plan.

The Action Plan is designed to support the efforts of the Armenian government and society to reinforce human rights, ensure justice, combat the threats to the rule of law, and promote democratic governance.

Simonyan, according to a statement released by his office, expressed concern that little progress has been made on the release of Armenian POWs and otyher detainees held by Azerbaijan.

The CoE officialstressed the importance of the Minsk Group in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict settlement process.
