Yerevan: Anti-Government Protesters Block Access to Foreign Ministry
Anti-government protesters in Yerevan today blocked the entrances to buildings housing the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Justice.
National Assembly Vice Speaker and protest leader Ishkhan Saghatelyan said the action was designed to hinder the work of the ministry.
Today’s protests follow Sunday’s EU Council brokered meeting in Brussels between Armenian PM Nikol Pashinyan and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.
Saghatelyan told reporters the ministry’s peace policy with Azerbaijan counters the national interests of Armenia.
Opposition Hayastan faction MP Aram Vardevanyan, who entered the Foreign Ministry, said the protesters were defending the right of ministry staffers to strike.
