Former Armenian Human Rights Defender Arman Tatoyan has called on Yerevan police to refrain from using violence against peaceful opposition protesters and journalists covering those protests.

Tatoyan, in a Facebook post, also rebuked cops for using insulting language to incite protesters to commit violence.

Dear compatriots, I also ask you to refrain from using insults and abusive words when dealing with the police. It makes the atmosphere more tense," Tatoyan wrote.
