Armenian Opposition's "March on Yerevan" Kicks Off in Ijevan
Those opposing the government of Armenian PM Nikol Pashinyan left the town of Ijevan today on a 137-kilometer march to Yerevan as part of a nationwide call to action issued by the opposition Hayastan parliamentary faction.
Lats week, Armenia’s political opposition announced the start of a “street struggle” designed to force Pashinyan’s resignation.
The Hayastan and With Honor parliamentary factions accuse Pashinyan of leading Armenia into a series of disastrous peace deals with Azerbaijan and Turkey.
Armenian National Assembly Vice Speaker Ishkhan Saghatelyan, a Hayastan faction member, says the marchers will converge on Yerevan from four symbolic sites in the outlying provinces.
Nikol Pashinyan was born in Ijevan.
