The Hague Calls on Armenia and Azerbaijan to Refrain from Provocative Actions

The International Court of Justice (The Hague) issued two orders on December 7 regarding the applications filed by Armenia and Azerbaijan for the court to issue provisional measures against the other concerning alleged violations of the 1965 International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination.

The Court called on both countries to “refrain from any action which might aggravate or extend the dispute before the Court or make it more difficult to resolve.”

In the case Armenia filed against Azerbaijan, the Court called on Baku to:

  1. Protect from violence and bodily harm all persons captured in relation to the 2020 Conflict who remain in detention and ensure their security and equality before the law.
  2. Take all necessary measures to prevent the incitement and promotion of racial hatred and discrimination, including by its officials and public institutions, targeted at persons of Armenian national or ethnic origin.
  3. Take all necessary measures to prevent and punish acts of vandalism and desecration affecting Armenian cultural heritage, including but not limited to churches and other places of worship, monuments, landmarks, cemeteries and artefacts.

The Court did not satisfy Armenia’s demand that Azerbaijan must immediately release all Armenian prisoners of war, hostages and other detainees in its custody who were made captive during the September-November 2020 armed hostilities or their aftermath.

In addition, the Court overlooked Armenia's demand that Azerbaijan close the so-called Trophy Park in Baku. Armenia argued that the exhibit is racist and depicts Armenian soldiers in a highly demeaning fashion.

In the case Azerbaijan filed against Armenia, the Court called on Yerevan to:

  1. Take all necessary measures to prevent the incitement and promotion of racial hatred, including by organizations and private persons in its territory, targeted at persons of Azerbaijani national or ethnic origin.

As expected the cowards mentioned "both parties" knowingly that who are the aggressors and who are the victims. They were afraid of hurting the feelings of sultan Erdogan and his puppet Aliyev if they spoke up the truth! As long as Russia and its partner Turkey (quasi owner of Azerbaijan) "monitor" the so-called "ceasefire", Azerbaijan continues its barbarism with impunity. This is the end of the mockery that Turkey as a party directly and explicitly involved in a genocidal war against Armenian people is monitoring the so-called "ceasefire" in Artsakh. Since 2015 the Eastern "superpower" has been too busy pleasing/appeasing Turkey in order to pulling it away from NATO, bringing it to their camp, and facilitate the first Slavic-Turkic alliance in the Caucasus and Central Asia. The "pragmatic relation" with Turkey even forced Eastern "superpower" to abandon their national pride and dignity. Russia stayed "pragmatic" (read passive) even when its military jet was shot down over Syria (2015), or when its ambassador to Turkey was assassinated in Ankara (2016), or when Turkish/Azeri forces shot down a military copter over Nakhijevan and murdered two Russian servicemen (2020). And despite all of these, Russia invited Turkey to monitor "ceasefire" in Artsakh. There is a Persian proverb in this regard: they asked the fox "who is your witness"? The fox replied "my tail"! On the other hand, the Western "superpowers" stand idle and watch because they are so preoccupied with Azerbaijan's dirty oil and also with keeping the only Muslim member of NATO in their camp. When it comes to their interests, the “superpowers” (Eastern & Western alike) don't care about Armenia's 1000s of years of culture and civilization. They even do not hesitate to throw Armenian people under the bus. Thus, in today's geopolitical situation, when the “superpowers” are in vehement competition to pull Turkey to their side, the Armenian people need another SARDARAPAT and/or MUSA DAGH and a leader like Armenian hero MONTE MELKONIAN (RIP) who once said: “We do not believe in benevolent friends, the inevitable triumph of justice, or covertly and cleverly manipulating the superpowers. If we are to achieve national self-determination, then we ourselves, the Armenian people, will have to fight for it. We believe in the power of organized masses and in the capacity of our people to determine their own future. We believe in revolution.”
