Kurdish "Language Day" Celebrated in Armenia (video)
Kurds around the world celebrate May 15 as Kurdish Language Day.
Here in Armenia, the occasion was also marked with events running from May 8-15 in various Kurdish and Yezidi communities. One such community is the village of Alagyaz, one of the 11 such villages in the Aragatzotn Marz of Armenia.
Alagyaz school pupils, dressed in traditional garb, put on a show yesterday that was attended by guests from Yerevan.
During the opening ceremonies, mention was made of the anti-Kurdish policies conducted by Turkey.
A poster, adorned with flowers, dedicated to 12 Kurds recently killed in Turkey was placed in one corner of the school auditorium.
