Pashinyan Calls for Normalization of Relations with All Neighbors
Armenian PM Nikol Pashinyan, during a speech today in parliament outlining his government’s five-year agenda, said that the process to demarcate the country’s border with Azerbaijan must continue despite Baku’s provocative statements regarding a “corridor” through Armenian territory.
"I have said many times that neither the November 9 trilateral statement, nor the January 11statement, contain any phrase, reference, or wording, about the creation of a corridor through the territory of Armenia,” Pashinyan told MPs.
He added that the issue is about unblocking regional transportation routes, rather than any type of corridor linking Nakhijevan with the rest of Azerbaijan.
Pashinyan said that the efforts of the working group of the Deputy Prime Ministers of Armenia, Russia and Azerbaijan must intensify to break the 30-year blockade of Armenia.
Pashinyan stressed that his government’s foreign policy will focus on the deepening and normalization of relations with neighboring countries.
"Overcoming hostility can become a core of the region's foreign policy agenda," he said.
