The Armenian National Assembly today passed a bill allowing for life imprisonment for those found guilty of either “high treason” or “espionage”.

The bill, already approved at the first hearing, was introduced by three Prosperous Armenia Party MPs.

Life sentences are now the maximum penalties allowed for such crimes.
