Georgian President Proposes Karabakh Peace Talks in Tbilisi
Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili, addressing the leaders of Armenia and Azerbaijan, stated today that she is ready to organize talks in Tbilisi on the settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict.
"I want to appeal to the presidents of the two countries, the authorities, to resume the dialogue between them as soon as possible, I call for de-escalation and a ceasefire. We are ready to make this country, Tbilisi, a place where any type of negotiations will be possible. We are ready for anything the parties want," Zourabichvili said at a briefing after today’s Georgian National Security Council meeting dedicated to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
Zourabichvili also addressed the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs, noting that their role in the settlement of the conflict is great.
She asked the European Union to intervene and to contribute to the ceasefire, as the three countries of the Caucasus are participants in the Eastern Partnership program.
