Group Charges Defense Ministry With Hindering Reporters
A civic group calling itself “The Army in Reality” charges the RA Ministry of Defense with hindering reporters from covering stories related to accidents and other suspicious incidents within the armed forces.
The group says that despite assurances to contrary, the RA Defense Ministry and Military Prosecutor’s Office continues to cover-up such incidents and has exerted pressure on reporters not to publish their findings.
The group says that recently the Ministry has summoned reporters to account for their coverage of such incidents and had demanded that journalists divulge their sources.
The group claims that the army’s investigative service has yet to launch a probe into alleged violations or suspicious incidents based on the findings of reporters.
