Armenia’s Criminal Court of Appeals has approved an appeal filed by the Prosecutor General’s Office to detain Yerevan Children’s Home Director Liana Karapetyan.

In December, a lower court released Karapetyan, indicted on two counts in the recently revealed illegal adoption scheme in Armenia, on 3 million drams bail.

Karapetyan faces charges of Article 167 (Illegal separation of the child from the parents or substitution of the child) and Article 314 (official forgery) of Armenia’s Criminal Code.
