The Armenian government today approved a bill, proposed by the Ministry of Labor and Social Affair, that would organize a centralized database of domestic violence cases.

If passed in parliament, it would be the first such comprehensive database of domestic violence cases in Armenia, this according to a Ministry of Justice press release.

It would include not only the exact number of cases, but also a clear picture of the types of violence and the spatial distribution of their registration

Currently, there is no centralized registration of domestic violence cases in the country. Information on the prevalence, extent, and forms of the phenomenon is obtained from cases reported by law enforcement agencies, as well as surveys conducted by various organizations, which is insufficient to assess the situation, establish patterns and initiate preventive measures.
