Robert Kocharyan Transferred to Yerevan Hospital for Medical Exam
Armenia's second president, Robert Kocharyan, now being tried for bribe taking and usurpation of state power, was taken to a Yerevan hospital today for a medical examination.
Nona Navikyan, Press Officer of the Penitentiary Service of the Ministry of Justice, reported the news to Hetq, noting that she doesn't know how long Kocharyan would be kept there.
The trial of former Armenian President Robert Kocharyan, and three other ex-government officials charged with the overthrowing of constitutional order during the post-election protests in Yerevan on March 1-2, 2008, began on September 12 at the Shengavit branch of Yerevan’s Court of General Jurisdiction.
Kocharyan, who turned 65 in August, is being held at Yerevan’s Kentron penitentiary.
